Bosch 800 Series Cooktop Review 2023 | NIT8069UC

I’m always on the lookout for easy-to-use appliances that cooks my food quickly and efficiently. Which is why I started to look into induction cooktops. Promising to be more energy-efficient, simple to clean and with the capability to cook food quicker, it was a solution that I wanted to find out more about – which is where the Bosch NIT8069UC came in .

If you’re facing similar issues, then an induction cooktop could be a worthwhile purchase. In this review, we will see what the pros, cons and functions are of the Bosch NIT8069UC.

Bosch 800 Series Induction Cooktop Review

Almost everyone knows the brand Bosch. Creator of washing machines, tumble dryers and more, they are a trusted name. Branching out to produce induction cooktops, they wanted to create a powerful product and that stood up against other brands within the market.

An alternative to gas and electric hobs, the Bosch NIT8069UC induction hob comes with a variety of features. Boasting four burners, the power ranges from 1400 Watts to 3700 Watts. It also has a sleek design – a feature which many modern day homeowners could appreciate.

One of the newer models available, it echoes the power levels of the now discontinued FlexInduction NITP068UC. These power levels are a good feature for those wanting to cook their food quicker – without having to wait for the cooktop to heat up.

It’s not however, one for those who are looking for a budget-friendly induction cooktop. As with others in the market (such as the induction cooktops produced by Miele) they are expensive – so it’s important that you weigh out the pros and cons before purchasing:

Pros

  • 11 cooking zones
  • 17 power levels
  • WiFi capability
  • Power output of 1400 – 3700 Watts
  • Easy to clean

Cons

  • It is expensive
  • It needs to be professionally installed

Features & Benefits

To give you a better idea of whether or not the Bosch NIT8069UC 800 Series is the best option for your home, here is a list of the features that come with it:

Power

As aforementioned, the Bosch NIT8069UC has a maximum output of 3700 Watts. Whether you’re cooking large meals at a time or you want to cook your meals quicker, this power output will undeniably benefit you. Spread across the four inductions, it is also designed to give a more even heat coverage.

WiFi Capability

Through the Home Connect feature, you can connect the cooktop to The Bosch Home Connect App. This feature is a bonus for those looking to create a smart home as it has the capability of allowing you to monitor and control the appliance from your phone. An upgrade from your electric/gas hob, it makes it more accessible for people that are looking for a simplified cooking solution.

SpeedBoost™ Feature

Another good feature is the SpeedBoost. This can help you by giving more power to the cooktop, which will result in a quicker cooking process. This feature would have been really useful when I was in a rush trying to prepare a meal for my family and friends.

AutoChef® Feature

Bosch have added this to the NIT8069UC in an attempt to offer a more even heat transfer. It works by measuring the temperature at the bottom of the pan. An ideal feature for novices who are unsure as to which temperature you should cook something out, it could prove to be invaluable in the long term.

Count Up Timer

A problem that I often face when cooking, is keeping track of everything. This feature is aimed to resolve this issue, by enabling you to closely monitor the progress of each individual dish by using the stopwatch function. A feature that will make a difference in your everyday cooking, it’s something that I really appreciate.

Alongside this, each of the cooking zones also have a countdown timer – so that if you have different dishes cooking at one go, they will each cook to the appropriate amount.

ChildLock

Although this is available on other makes/models, it’s nonetheless an important feature to comment on. The ChildLock feature locks the temperature settings so that they can’t be adjusted by little ones. It also stops the cooktop from being accidentally turned on – a bonus that families can benefit from.

17 Power Levels

This feature was added so that customers could have more options when it comes to the temperature. Aimed at giving you more flexibility, it’s a benefit that any beginner chef could appreciate. Whether you want to keep the food warm, sear it or have it on a high temperature, you will be able to do so with the power level feature.

Customer Reviews

When looking into the Bosch NIT8069UC, I wanted to see what others thought of it and whether they thought it was good value for money. The induction cooktop market is huge, so I wanted to see how it compared. From my research, I discovered various user reviews that seemed very positive.

The following reviews I found are from Appliances Connection, Home Depot and the Bosch website.

Alternative Products

Before purchasing an induction cooktop, it’s important to compare and contrast different makes and models. So if you’re unsure as to whether the Bosch NIT8069UC is right for you, I’ve included some alternative products that are worthy contenders:

Frigidaire is a US home appliance company that’s frequently releasing new iterations of their induction cooktops. The FGIC3066TB can be directly compared to the Bosch NIT8069UC as they are both 30 inches and have a similar power output and weight.

Promising “amazingly fast heat” and an auto-sizing pan detection feature, it aims at cooking your food quickly without wasting too much electricity. Similar to the ChildLock feature offered by Bosch, it also offers a safety feature which ensures that the heat is kept inside of the induction – so that little one’ fingers won’t get burnt if they touch around the side of the pan.

However, where they differ is their price and their WiFI capabilities. Despite being quite a lot cheaper than the Bosch NIT8069UC, it lacks the ability to be incorporated into a smart home. But if you aren’t worried about being able to control you induction cooktop from your phone, this missing feature might not be something to worry about.

  • PHP9036SJSS

Even though the GE name is not as well known, the GE PHP9036SJSS is nonetheless a competitor to the Bosche NIT8069UC. Despite this induction cooktop being similar in price, its ChildLock capability, the size sensor and the kitchen timer, it once again lacks the smart home capability.

However, if this isn’t your first priority, the GE PHP9036SJSS has a few plus points that are a direct contender to the features offered by the NIT8069UC. Firstly, it has 36 inches of cooking space – a whole 6 inches more than that of the Bosche. It also has 5 induction hobs – giving you an extra place to put your frying pan. Too benefits that mean that it might work better for a family looking for an induction cooktop than the NIT8069UC, they should be considered before purchasing.

Features

  • The True Induction includes easy to use controls, True Induction's patented power sharing technology as well as numerous safety features including auto pan detect
  • Requires cookware that is induction compatible. Works with most stainless steel and cast iron cookware. If a magnet sticks to bottom of pan it will work. Optimal cookware has a flat bottom and a diameter of 4. 5" - 10" inches
  • Easy to Clean: With its seamless one piece ceramic glass cooktop, the True Induction cooktop can be cleaned in no time
  • Cooktop is 23. 5" W x 14" L x 2 1/2" H, has a temperature range from 150°F - 450°F and heat settings from 1-10
  • True Induction is the choice cooktop of Winnebago and many other RV manufacturers

If one of the reasons you’re looking for an induction cooktop is because your home is lacking in space (or perhaps you live in an RV), then the True Induction Cooktop might be a good option for you. Only 24 inches long (in comparison to the 30 inches of the Bosch) it features 10 heat settings.

Similarly to its contender, it has an auto-pan detector, which means that it won’t heat up unless it detects a pan on its service.

However, if you’re looking for a powerful induction hob, then this might not be the best choice. The two heating elements can only share up to 1800 Watts – making it just under half as powerful as the Bosch. But, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, then the TI-2B is perfect.

Things to Consider Before buying an Induction Cooktop

https://www.youtube.com/embed/sbropU7t7hI

People are turning to induction cooktops because they claim to cook things quicker, they can be linked to smart home devices and they are designed to be more eco-friendly. Although they do require magnetic cookware, it’s clear to see that the features that they come with arguably outweigh that of traditional gas/electric devices.

However, if you aren’t worried about all the bells and whistles and want a traditional device, then the gas and electric cooktops might be your best bet.

If you are uncertain as to whether to upgrade and you have just started your buying journey, here are some things you should consider before buying the Bosch NIT8069UC:

  • The best deal you can get it for (it’s available across a range of different websites)
  • Whether you really need the WiFi capabilities
  • How it compares to similar models
  • Whether the 3700 Watts is enough for your cooking needs
